Daishocon!

Thu Nov 19, 2009, 6:40 PM
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Hitobashira Alice/Alice Human Sacrifice
  • Reading: Turn of the Golden Witch
  • Watching: Monster
  • Playing: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
  • Eating: Whatever I can find
  • Drinking: Whatever I can find
Tomorrow starts Daishocon! I'm really excited! It's taking place in my college hometown so I CAN'T forget anything so I can wear all my costumes. On Friday I'm dressing as Mikuru Asahina and on Saturday I'm going as Kefka Palazzo. I'm entering my Kefka cosplay into the Cosplay Contest. I don't have a skit planned or anything I'm just going to go with the flow and talk with the hosts. One's going to be dressed as Ash and the other is going to be dressed as Pikachu so I figured I could comment on that. It's usually taped and put on Youtube so you might even get to hear what I sound like and how I act! Of course, it'll be how I talk and act while dressed as Kekfa so...yeah...

Travis Willingham is going to be there. For those who don't know, he's the voice of Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Mori on Ouran High School Host Club, Portgas D. Ace from One Piece, and other voices. According to Anime News Network he's the voice of Zetsu on Naruto. Didn't know about that one. Oh! He's also going to be the voice of Free on Soul Eater! Looking forward to that one. It's going to be cool to see him there but I was more excited to see Laura Bailey. She was going to be there but she had to step out at the last minute because of a "surprise career opportunity" or something. I was disappointed at first because I love her voice work (Lust, Maka, Cloud of Darkness, Shin, Kid Trunks, I think she was Tohru, and more!) but then I realized "Hey! If it's a career opportunity that means she's going to be doing a voice in something new! Yay!"

In other, non Daishocon related news, I saw Paranormal Activity last Saturday. People seem to be divided on whether or not it was scary but it sure worked on me. It's literally, in my opinion, the scariest movie that's come out in recent years. Horrible remakes and special effects riddled scary movies have nothing on this one. This movie had a tiny budget ($15,000. Peanuts compared to blockbusters out there) but the atmosphere builds so well that the lack of special effects only add to it. Everything that happens in that movie feel like it really could be happening, like this was just a video of something they found one day. When the movie gets to the last two nights...wow...I won't say anything so that if you want to see it you won't be spoiled. But take my advice. To get the most out of this movie you have to go into it with an open mind. Forget everything you're heard about it, good or bad, and don't question the events. If you go in believing this stuff can happen (and a lot of people do already, me being one of them) then it will scare you.

I also bought New Super Mario Bros. Wii and it is a blast! I've only beat the first world (damn you school!) but I know I'm going to enjoy playing through this game with my roommate.

That's about it for now. If I can think of anything else I'll be sure to post it up!

Word to the Wise: Watching cartoons doesn't make you immature. Belittling someone for their interests, does.
